Working as a Luxury Beauty Multi-Brand Expert meant I got to be a Fairy God mother every day, helping people find their perfect beauty picks.
Finding the perfect product is so important, and we all know that the importance increases when we have a big day coming up.
Throughout my time as an expert, I sold many products for a selection of occasions. Graduations, birthdays, proms, weddings...
But one product seemed to be the top pick for a particular group of clientele.
Without making you wait too long, the trend I started to notice was that 9 out of 10 brides-to-be, who came in for a seated service, walked away with the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation for their big day.
But out of all the foundations tried and tested, what makes it so special? What ticks the boxes to make them say “that’s the one?”
The big day make up criteria
The brides to be that sat in my chair would often ask for these three things. A subtle glow, a natural finish, and something that looks like their skin but better. We tried foundations that felt too thick, looked unnatural, and highlighted texture on the skin.
The moment I brushed on Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk I would watch their faces light up both in expression and complexion.
I was always a little biased towards this foundation myself, and it didn’t take long to notice that it was becoming a favourite for weddings too.

The Magic Of Luminous Silk
Armani officially launched with a full makeup and beauty collection in 2000 marking 25 years of the fashion brand.
Giorgio Armani had always celebrated women, and his only mission was to make them feel beautiful.
He carried this through into the Giorgio Armani makeup line, believing that cosmetics should act as an extension of natural beauty, not as a disguise, and this is why Luminous Silk was born.
When it launched in the 2000s it was a rebellion against the heavy matte products dominating the market, as Luminous Silk was made to emulate a second skin, and did the complete opposite of what was popular at the time.
The product was developed alongside Dame Pat McGrath, Mother Of Makeup, and Micro-Fil technology was used by Armani’s laboratories to create a foundation inspired by silk fabric. Something that’s fluid and never appears cakey or thick when layered.
All of this combined with low levels of titanium oxide created a red carpet staple foundation.
To put the cherry on the cake, in 2026 the product that had gone untouched for 25 years, was reformulated, adding skincare benefits like niacinamide and Mediterranean lily, the line even expanded to include 44 inclusive shades.
What more could a bride want for her wedding make up? A foundation that makes you feel beautiful in your own skin, and one that’s loved by celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Sabrina Carpenter.
